This is with regard to the enforcement of a moral dress code by the Department of Art and Culture. Though this decision is appreciated as a dress code is appeasing to the onlookers eyes and also portrays the image of the company to which the employee belongs to, one must also understand the today’s youngsters or to say the young office-goers would really be comfortable in choosing an outfit of their choice, the latest trendy clothes, to wear to work.
After all they are slogging very hard and who would not like to wear something decent of their liking to work. It has been noticed that Goan office-goers would never wear anything too revealing to their work place, with the exception of one or two. Instead, why doesn’t the Goa government enforce a strict dress code on the tourists especially tourists from other states visiting Goa on their honeymoon or on a holiday?
These tourists, especially visiting Goa from other Indian states, dress as though they are birds being set free from a cage (in their particular state) and wear clothes which are so revealing that even the decent foreigners now-a-days would not dare to wear such clothes. They freely roam on our roads, least bothered about the harsh glares of the Goans. They would never wear the same revealing clothes in their home town, considering the strict family backgrounds which they belong to. Infact, it is they (the Indian tourists who come on a holiday to Goa) who portray a bad image of Goa through their clothes that even the Hindi movie directors show scantily clad Goans in their movies, thus reflecting a poor image of Goa. A very serious thought should be given on this, instead of targeting innocent Goan office-goers.
