Since the BJP came to power, organizations associated with the Sangh Parivar have been trying to implement its Hindutva agenda with full force. Its activities have polarized the society on religious lines. What is surprising is that the govt is not curbing their activities and maintaining law and order.
If we read between the lines about, we can clearly conclude that all these activities is helping the govt to hide itself and face the people. The BJP has given the people high hopes the slogan “acche din ayenge”. But within 8 months people have realized that none of these promises have been fulfilled. Some of major U turns taken by the government are black money, rail fare rise, and minimum support price for farmers.
The BJP government cannot face the people who voted them. As long as the Sangh Parivar continues with its controversies, the media can divert the people from the failures of the government and keep them busy with the controversial issues.

A social malaise
Marriages involving non-resident Indian grooms are turning fragile day by day and exposing an ugly social malaise. People banking on such marriages as a status symbol, marry off their daughters without diligent checks on the groom.
The lack of acumen and awareness, have forced our women to fall prey to prostitution or work as maids in pathetic conditions. They are frequently enslaved by their NRI husbands, exiled from the world or even thrown out in the middle of the cold night devoid of money. The conviction rate is abysmally low, due to the complexity involved in the jurisdiction of such cases.
To furnish solace and some respite to such afflicted women, the Indian government must negotiate with other countries to deport such fraudulent NRIs.. Rehabilitation programmes should be conducted for such traumatized women.We cannot mend the torn chapters, but we can certainly help them to turn over a new leaf

Another life lost
Yet another fatal accident on the notorious the Raia-Ponda road took away a young life at the threshold of a promising career, a young boy of standard XI from Margao and a former student of Loyola High School, Margao.
The residents of Raia-Salcette have been vociferously demanding a proper structured road which continues to be a virtual ‘death-trap,’ exhibiting lack of application from PWD engineers and the department on the whole.
The road has been a nightmare for its users, especially the Raia residents, for quite some time now and no matter how many agitations and protests have been held here, the PWD authorities have hardly taken any action.
It’s a shame the ruling BJP who promised Goans good governance and the current PWD minister who has the audacity to comment on issues like tourism and use of bikinis on beaches is highly incapable to run the PWD department efficiently.

Perils of matka
People of all age groups seem to be interested in the game of matka which can also be called a ‘silent killer’. It basically involves an exercise in which a person invests an amount of money on a certain number and waits for it to double at the the end of the day. It is very disappointing to see that educated students and youth showing interest in this. Our youth stopped believing in earning through hardwork and are rather interested in making easy money by trying their luck in such games. There are cases wherein people playing such games have become impoverished after wasting their assets on such things. At this juncture our youths need to concentrate on their studies and make efforts to contribute to the society positively.

Wise choice needed
For the upcoming elections to the now vacant Panaji assembly seat, It’s important for Goa that the BJP candidate loses. The party has so much of deceit, U-turns and anti Goa activities like Tiracol sell out, land scams
We had given the BJP chance to better Goa and they failed miserably, Theymust be taught a big lesson. Hope the people of Panjim make a wise choice.
