High standards

By his sensational announcement to resign as the head of FIFA after a 17-year year which ended in infamy, Sepp Blatter has set high standards for the world football governing body.
Blatter had the courage and tenacity to take moral responsibility after 14 top officials at FIFA were charged with high level corruption by the FBI last week.  Blatter said that while he has the mandate from the membership of FIFA, he does not feel he has the mandate from the entire world of football and that elections for the top job will be held any time between September this year and March next year.
If only such an exemplary move was also seen in the cricket governing body in India and the world cricket body where the bosses seem to stick to their post come-what-may even in the midst of controversies. This is just not cricket.
