As Modi’s government is all set to complete one year at the helm we see now a subdued and fatigued Modi, instead of the aggressive one, full of promises of “acche din”.
Already fresh fears over the impact of retrospective taxation and faulty policies have rattled foreign investors and Indian markets. As a corollary, stocks fell for a fifth consecutive day and the rupee hit its weakest in more than a month. The downtrend is likely to continue.
The Corporate Espionage case has blown up in his face and it is revealed now that the Essar Group favored Modi’s own minister Nitin Gadkari. His foreign policy management has hardly yielded any results. I feel aghast to learn that China and Pakistan, unmindful of India’s concerns, have decided to ink a 45 billion dollar deal for an Economic Corridor through Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
Further, Modi committed his greatest political and moral blunder as his government not only tolerated but even fraternised with the enemy in Kashmir.
Then it was a mischievous NaMo that allegedly dared to omit the words “socialist, secular” of constitution that enraged the people very much, as well as his delayed condemnation of attacks on Christians and RSS communal utterances.
I guess his downfall started with his high cost suit that cost him a lot in Delhi. The resounding AAP victory proved to be an egg on his face.
Modi’s Government is indeed a Government that promises the moon but delivers little.
