Service with a smile!

Usually  a common man tries to avoid  visiting  any Govt. office. The mess in the office, the dull faces of the employees, no helping attitude of the staff, non caring attitude of every one, several excuses for not doing your work in time etc. But whether we like it or not…, we are forced to vist these offices.
Although for convenience of my job I stay in my Mapusa , but I am of the origin of village Virnoda in Pernem taluka. I got my ration card and my election card registered in the same village. So when I bought my new car I was asked by the authorities to register my car at Pernem R.T.O. office.
But what I saw here was  that the two lady staff  at the counters,  were helping every one with a smile. Pernem is still treated as a backward taluka so far and it was reflected very much at both the counters  as I could see so many confused ( including me ) young and old persons coming with so many different problems. But both  these lady staff, were guiding each customer in such a way that every one was thanking them.
From the counter itself I could see the chief of the office interacting with his entire staff in such a polite manner that I was left with the impression that this office was like one big family. No wonder the  service here came with a smile. Credit for this must go to all and especially to chief.

Capital punishment
The report of thoughtlessly and mercilessly cruel shooting and killing of a 12-year-old innocent African-American boy named Tamir Rice, at a playground on Nov.22, 2014 who was holding an ‘airsoft ‘ type replica gun (pistol) similarly looking like a real  semi-automatic pistol , without carrying out proper detailed inquiries by the inhuman Cleveland police men is highly condemnable.
It is a bad precedent in the history of U.S. It is so simple thinking that the boy cannot be a terrorist at such a tender age and that his harmless activities of pointing pistol towards public passing through with his fake pistol is a sort of play. It is suspected and smelt (smelled) that it was a ‘Black & White ‘ racialism shooting.  The policemen deserve nothing less than a capital punishment as OHIO (US) laws are very stringent.

Electronic screens
Massive electronic screens have been put up in the pandal during the novena mass being held in preparation of the feast of St. Francis Xavier at Old Goa in order to beam live pictures of the mass at the altar for those who are not able to get a clear view of it.
But then it is observed that many a times instead of beaming live picture of the altar when the mass is going on, the live pictures of the people kissing the relics of St Francis Xavier which is placed at Se Cathedral is being beamed on these giant electronic screen. This becomes a source of distraction to the faithful who are attending the novena mass.
It there are some technical glitches in beaming live pictures of the mass then the live telecast needs to be put off so that the faithful can concentrate on the mass. It would be in the fitness of things to focus the camera on the background picture of Jesus Christ and St. Francis Xavier at the altar when the distribution of the Holy Communion is going on.
The officials in charge should see to it that only live pictures of the altar is beamed when the mass is going on and at other times the live pictures of the faithful kissing the relics may be beamed. This needs to be done during the remaining days of the novenas and on the day of the feast.

Who is anti-national?
The former chief minister of Goa and the current Defence Minister of India, Manohar Parrikar has said recently that telling the navy to shift from Dabolim Airport to some other place would be anti-national but why?The Dabolim Airport is a civilian airport and the whole world knows that the navy is occupying the same illegally giving silly excuses since the liberation of Goa. The navy is definitely not doing any favour for Goans by occupying the said Dabolim airport in the name of giving protection because Goa can never be really protected from just one location as this land is fully surrounded by Arabian sea/open beaches from all sides.
I think that the reason why the navy is refusing to vacate the Dabolim Airport is because it wants to keep bringing its officers for long holidays and enjoyment forever in this famous land of sea, sand and unlimited booze.
Our politicians should therefore stop misguiding us giving their own silly excuses to bulldoze their own unwanted projects but instead should learn to listen to the voice of Goans and to respect their sentiments.
