Every child is a gift from God and He alone has the right to take it away. While the birth of a baby boy is welcome with joy, that of a girl is often frowned upon for many reasons. It is therefore sad to note that a girl is seen as a burden in many families and suffers humiliation. She is subjected to second preferences in society, nay family, over preferences given to the boy. This discrimination sets back the growth of a girl child who suffers from blooming to an outstanding personality in many fields.
In the beginning when the first human beings were created in male and female, they were blessed with the blessings: increase and multiply. It implies that both girl and boy are equally important to carry forward procreation. Without the two, life is simply impossible. However, this fact is forgotten looking only at one side that the boy is the only one to be honoured.
Beti Bachao Campaign started in the right earnest by Prime Minister Narendra Modi must be taken forward to create awareness on the importance of girl child. The Prime Minister literally went begging for the girl child in one of his political campaigns to change the mindset of the people. What better way is there to save the girl to know that she is a human being in every way as much as the boy is the same creation of the creator?
Let us remember to hold our heads high at the birth of a girl child and proclaim to the world whether girl or boy it makes no difference.
