What does Ghar Wapsi stand for, or what does it really mean? It literally means come home. We are all Indians at home. Why do we need to be called home when we are at home? Well, Ghar Wapsi really stands for conversion. We have not gone out of our homes. Even if we are out of the country, we are still Indians and India will always be our Home.
Who is the BJP trying to hoodwink. If they are against conversion, how can they go against their own ideals? They are trying to reconvert people from the present faith they follow to the old traditional faith they used to follow due to lack of education and ignorance at that time. Now that people are educated and can reason out for themselves, they have chosen to adopt a more meaningful faith.
Conversion means a change for the better and a more meaningful way of life. Whereas Ghar Wapsi which means re-conversion, that is, going backwards to the past with its superstitions, caste discriminations, and illiteracy. In the past only the Brahmins were educated.
Who will be attracted to Ghar Wapsi? It will only be the ignorant, and the avaricious or those greedy for money, wealth, and status. The BJP, instead of taking the country forward, is only taking the country backward. Religion is something within us. It is a personal relationship with God. Wearing a cross or going to a church does not make a person a Christian. Similarly wearing a red or black tikka on the forehead, a mangalsutra, or going to a temple does not make a person a Hindu.
As for the attack on bee eaters: We have both vegetarians who depend on plants, and non-vegetarians who depend on animals for their food. The government has no right to dictate what we should or should not eat. Just as the cow is special for some, the sheep is also special for some, yet we eat both beef and mutton as food. They are just animals. Why is the government trying to ban cow slaughter when they don’t ban cows from roaming on the streets creating a nuisance to traffic and the people even causing accidents?
The government should focus on creating job opportunities for all and develop the place with a good, clean, honest and diligent police force. They should not waste their precious time about personal things when they have been elected for a special purpose of ridding the State and the country of corruption and making Goa and India shine.
