The time the BJP government has come to power in Goa, the cost of living has gone so high that life has become totally miserable for our “aam Goans” due to the imposition of so many harsh taxes by this government. To sustain its own numerous stupid schemes, the Laxmikant Parsekar-led BJP government has now hiked almost everything from electricity bills, water tariffs, service tax, VAT on petrol etc.
Forget vegetables, even buying fish has become like a big curse today as prices of the same have skyrocketed for reasons best known to this government. For e.g. the price of 5 medium Mackerals, 10 Sardines and even a small portion of ‘Korbot’ is practically not below 100 rupees in Goa. Beef prices too have gone up as a notorious NGO group (comprising of hardcore Sangh Parivar supporters) has been deliberately allowed to harass all beef traders/ suppliers based on filmsy arguments in Goa. Well, looks like the BJP government is currently secretly hell-bent on working with the said NGO group to bring about a total ban on the supply of beef and to starve minorities by playing “Cow” politics at the behest of its Sangh Parivar groups in Goa. Otherwise, why is the same government acting like a mute spectator and not solving this serious problem on top priority basis or guarantying protection for all the beef traders/suppliers to end the beef crisis in Goa?
The people from the interior villages are already facing an unsure future due to the past gimmicks of this very same government which had once gone misusing the word ‘illegal-mining’ for its own political mileage during the last assembly elections and which later resulted in the complete halt in all mining activities in Goa. Today, the same government says that it now wants to do almost everything to bring in that extra revenue for the state which it has lost due to the suspension of all mining activities since the last 3 years. Well, taxing the rich and powerful is fine but why should the BJP government hit the ‘aam Goans’ below the belt by coming out with such multiple harsh taxes in Goa? If the state coffers are so empty then why is the BJP government unnecessarily sending its ministers and their ‘chamchas’ on foreign trips so frequently? Why is the government not scrapping all its much-hyped ‘vote bank’ schemes immediately or scrapping the white elephant, namely Mopa Airport one’s for all for the betterment of Goa’s future?
It should be noted that the same government had come to power during the last Assembly elections promising the sky for Goans but today is practically seen extorting the pockets of ‘aam Goenkars’ from all sides. This clearly shows that the BJP government is currently officially out not to provide ‘ache-din’ but ‘Bhure-din’ or bad days for Goans.
