Apropos. ‘It is a show time again’ – your editorial, is really appreciating and visionary, showing really the way how the government needs to think of making fair use of this event for creative purposes than just using, such an international event of creative professionals and high-profiled dignitaries, as a tool for promoting political party agendas.
Nevertheless, it is the need of the hour that the government first sits tightly with the experts in the field and frames the clearly defined land use policy for entire State by keeping into its vision, also, the largely celebrated events, like International Film Festival, St. Francis Xavier Exposition, Shigmo Festival etc. apart from the natural beauties of Goa and the Goa’s beaches.
More often, the ministers, once they take charge, carry an impression that they are the Knowledge Stores. They develop the instincts to opine and take decisions on any matter without public sentiments or experts’ participation, howsoever they themselves may be ignorant about the issue. Recent of such examples are the hasty decision on Mopa airport, un revealed decisions on casinos, contradictory dispensation on mining, sulking pragmatism on education, un decided fate of Regional Plan,
Goa stinks of its garbage problems. The St. Inez nullah that cries for refueling for decades, stinks just on the right side of the International Film Festival. The foot path that leads to the IFFI venue that was just water sprayed a day before, stinks along both sides of the road. The city roads itself are perpetually in bad condition as with the water and electricity.
A tourism related services should be aimed and focused on the decent and conscious tourism. The infrastructure that is required to be built should be functionally maintained consistently with the intention of delivering qualitative tourism. The in-security and in-justice, corruption and politics cannot provide good tourism to make a place in Goa.
Goa is a lovely place to dwell for all, irrespective of the classes of any kind. The politicians need to open up to the public sentiments and develop Goa to retain its universal fabric by stripping off their political agendas.
