Junk food bad for Mental health

Certainly, junk foods are delicious but bad for our health. A study finds that it is also bad for our mental health. Taking fast foods can contribute to the conditions that cause the Parkinson’s disease. In 2012, the Spanish scientists had declared that taking junk foods was more the 50 percent likely to develop depression in compare to the person who took little or none.
Recently, Maharashtra Government has banned the sale of junk food in school canteens which is truly a good move. However, the question now arises, “is banning of fast foods in schools canteen enough”?
Out of the school hours, the children can have easily the same foods if parents do not attempt to control diet by limiting junk foods. Parents must take care of their children’s health since they have to think about their children’s future. They should guide and monitor the food habits of children. In Mumbai, you find that most of the people regularly eat junk food as Mumbaikars keep themselves busy outside with taking junk food most of the time.
In Mumbai, most of the street foods are junk and are prepared under unhygienic condition such as ‘pav bhaji’, ‘vada pav’, ‘pani puri’, ‘bhel puri’, ‘kheema pav’, ‘crab’, ‘ragda’, ‘dahi bhalla’, ‘aloo tikki’ and et al.
This is not all. Most of the fast foods are extremely coloured that attract children’s attention. They frequently consume fast foods made with high sugar colourings and as a result, they get addicted to this kind of foods and more, often become agitated and moody. Kids learn by experience. That’s all they know.
Blaming children’s attraction to junk food is not merely school authorities or government but their parents, their role models, I feel. Or else, it may not decrease the consumption of fast foods but reduce income of canteens for sure.
Usually, junk food contains excessive calories and low nutrient content. It also contributes to high sugar, fat, candy, processed meat which causes outweighs to our health and naturally leads to obesity. Obesity can increase risk of several health problems such as heart, stroke and so on. Reportedly, these days, too much TV watching make children fat and this is because of children’s fast food consumption during watching television.
