BJP’s Nilesh Cabral has reportedly raised strong objections over the statements of the fact-finding team and the recent article of the Church which has rightly raised serious concerns over the growing intolerance in different parts of India under BJP ruled states and the current Narendra Modi led BJP regime at the Centre. The one thing I have seen is that the BJP always uses such minority leaders to give their own counter justifications to defend the communal policies of this party especially whenever it comes under direct attack from mighty institutions like the church in Goa.
Of course, Francis Pereira, the alleged arrested culprit in the desecration of road-side religious structures, crosses in cemeteries, etc, might have been in jail earlier for three years for murder but even if we presumed that he’s a most ferocious man, how is it just possible for this single man to go vandalising 40 crosses, niches/graves in a cemetery in just a few hours and also go breaking road-side religious structures in a jiffy in different parts of Goa?
Secondly, how can Mr Cabral say that what has been published in the recent church article about the BJP is complete false and nonsense? The BJP has always refused to give important departments mostly for all its elected minority leaders and who have been elected since the last so many years in Goa? Why the BJP has never given the Tourism Department portfolio for its most capable minority leaders like Michael Lobo or Glen Ticlo when both have a tourism background?
Why did the BJP refuse to appoint Francis D’Souza as Goa’s chief minister when Manohar Parrikar was sent to Delhi to take over as the defence minister of India a couple of years back?
And why does it always talk of constructing only temples and not churches or mosques in India at the time of every election? Why does it tell the minorities to henceforth stop eating beef and to worship cows in India? Why does it want to forcibly impose the fascist agenda everywhere of its mentor, namely the RSS, which incidentally is still working to turn this secular country into another Hindu nation? Mr Cabral should stop targeting the church at the behest of his BJP bosses because we secular Goans are very much in our senses living with our eyes wide open and know which political party is communal and which is not in Goa/India till today.
