Tragic Dawn Fire Engulfs Residential Building
A massive fire ripped through a four-storey residential complex in Delhi’s Vivek Vihar early Sunday. Nine lives were lost, including a heartbreaking family of five with a one-year-old infant. The blaze erupted around 3:48am at B-13, Vivek Vihar Phase-I, spreading rapidly to the second, third, and fourth floors.
Victims Trapped in Inferno
A 5 family of 5 members perished on the second floor: Arvind (60), Anita (58), Nishant (35), Anchal (33), and baby Akash (1). Shikha Jain (45) died on the first floor. Third-floor family Nitin (50), Shailey (48), and son Samyank (25) also succumbed. Police and firefighters arrived swiftly after the distress call.
Rescue Amid Chaos
Fourteen fire tenders battled for hours. The fire was controlled by 8am, with cooling ops ongoing. Ten to 15 residents escaped unharmed; two with minor injuries reached Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital. Nine others were declared dead on arrival. Initial probe points to an AC unit explosion, but investigations continue.
Vivek Vihar police lead the inquiry. No other injuries reported beyond fatalities.
