Just days after his wedding, 26-year-old Navy officer Lt Vinay Narwal was tragically killed in a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. The heartbreaking image of his widow, Himanshi Narwal, sitting beside his coffin has come to symbolise the devastating human cost of one of the deadliest terror attacks in recent years.
Speaking through his grief, Lt Narwal’s father, Rajesh Narwal, expressed his anguish and directed sharp criticism at Pakistan’s military leadership. “General Asim Munir will understand my pain only when someone harms his son or daughter,” he said, his words filled with sorrow and frustration.

Lt Narwal, who had dreamt of wearing the uniform since childhood, was shot at point-blank range while on his honeymoon in Baisaran, known as “Mini Switzerland,” as he and his wife shared a plate of bhelpuri. Remembering his son, Rajesh Narwal described him as fearless, disciplined, and honest. “We built him together over thirty years… he is my hero,” he shared, his pride mingled with heartbreak.
Reacting to the recent U.S. designation of The Resistance Front (TRF)—a Lashkar-e-Taiba proxy—as a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO) and Specially Designated Global Terrorist (SDGT), Mr Narwal welcomed the move but stressed that symbolic measures alone are not enough. “Sanctions won’t finish terrorists. These groups must be identified, tracked by funding, and eradicated,” he urged.
