The Delhi government has intensified its crackdown on construction-related pollution, imposing fines worth ₹2.36 crore, issuing over 200 show-cause notices, and ordering the closure of 48 construction sites in the past month for flouting dust-control norms.
Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa said the strict action—supported by real-time surveillance and continuous field inspections—demonstrates the government’s commitment to tackling pollution through “measurable, science-led enforcement rather than hollow announcements.”

According to the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC), anti-dust enforcement efforts have been significantly scaled up since October 15. Officials have inspected 1,262 construction sites larger than 500 sq. m during this period.
To strengthen monitoring, 747 sites have been registered on the DPCC’s Dust Pollution Control Self-Assessment Portal, which features real-time video fencing, PM2.5 and PM10 monitoring sensors, and public display boards showing compliance levels at each project.
Sirsa said the government aims to deliver “measurable on-ground results” through strict inspections, strong enforcement, and better inter-agency coordination.
Out of the inspected sites, more than 200 have received show-cause notices, 48 were ordered to halt operations, and 35 were penalised, leading to environmental compensation totalling ₹2.36 crore.
Beyond major construction projects, DPCC teams are also inspecting neighbourhoods across the city to identify unregistered or illegal construction activity. Of 4,881 mapped localities, 467 have been surveyed so far, with 33 violations flagged for immediate action.
