Originally from Bihar, Mishra lived in Kanpur with his wife, Reshma, their twin daughters Riddhi and Siddhi, and their six-year-old son. According to police officials, Mishra had been suspicious of his wife’s fidelity and frequently expressed that she should live with their son while he would take responsibility for raising the daughters.

Reshma, in her statement, claimed that Mishra had been suffering from depression and had installed multiple CCTV cameras inside their home. She further alleged that he restricted her access to the daughters’ rooms, raising concerns about his behavior in the days leading up to the incident.
