Fans who paid between ₹4,000 and ₹25,000 were left furious when Messi appeared only briefly, remaining barely visible, contrary to expectations. The disappointment escalated into disorder, with bottles and chairs thrown and parts of the Yuba Bharati Krirangan vandalised.
Kolkata Police arrested Satadru Dutta, the chief organiser of the private event, after questioning him for nearly two hours. ADG & IGP (Law and Order) Jawed Shamim confirmed that a preliminary investigation is underway, adding that the situation has been brought under control and arrangements are being made for safe dispersal of spectators. Police officials said the organisers have given a written assurance that ticket refunds will be processed.
