Airlines Issue Flight Advisories Amid Tensions Between India and Pakistan
As tensions rise between India and Pakistan following the Indian Army’s precision strikes on Pakistani terror camps, several major airlines, including Air India, IndiGo, and SpiceJet, have issued flight advisories for northern India airports. This move comes in response to the closure of several key airfields in the region due to the ongoing military operations.
The Airports Authority of India confirmed that the Srinagar airfield would remain closed for the day as part of the heightened security measures, with no commercial flights operating from the area. In addition, Air India announced the suspension of all flights to and from Jammu, Srinagar, Leh, Jodhpur, Amritsar, Bhuj, Jamnagar, Chandigarh, and Rajkot until noon on May 7, awaiting further instructions from authorities. Furthermore, two international flights heading to Amritsar were rerouted to Delhi.
SpiceJet also declared the suspension of flights to several northern Indian airports, including Dharamshala, Leh, Jammu, Srinagar, and Amritsar, until further notice. The airline warned of possible disruptions to departures, arrivals, and connecting flights. Passengers were urged to check their flight status prior to departure.
IndiGo also issued a similar advisory, noting that flights to and from Srinagar, Jammu, Amritsar, Leh, Chandigarh, Dharamshala, and Bikaner would be impacted due to the changing airspace conditions. Passengers were advised to verify their flight status before heading to the airport.
