Stock Markets Closed on April 14 for Ambedkar Jayanti; Trading to Resume April 15 Amid Global Volatility

India’s key equity benchmarks remained closed on Tuesday, April 14, in observance of Ambedkar Jayanti, with both the BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty50 suspended for the day. Trading across all segments, including equities, derivatives, and securities lending and borrowing (SLB), was halted, with normal market activity set to resume on Wednesday, April 15.

The holiday comes against a backdrop of heightened market volatility driven by the ongoing Middle East conflict. After posting a strong rally of nearly 6 per cent last week, domestic indices reversed course on Monday, opening with losses exceeding 2 per cent.
