A 57-year-old woman, Soudamini Mahala, went missing after a crocodile dragged her into the Kharasrota river in Odisha’s Jajpur district on Monday afternoon. The incident occurred at Kantia village under Binjharpur Police Station limits while she was bathing. A video showing the crocodile dragging the woman went viral on social media.
Villagers tried to rescue her but were unsuccessful. Fire brigade personnel and police launched a search operation immediately after being informed. Eyewitness Naba Kishore Mahala said, “As we noticed the crocodile dragging the woman, we jumped to rescue her, but all our efforts went in vain.”
