Vijay’s trusted astrologer and spiritual mentor Radhan Pandit Vettrivel has been appointed as Officer on Special Duty (Political) to the Chief Minister following TVK’s strong performance in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. The appointment came shortly after Vijay officially assumed office as Chief Minister with the support of alliance partners.
Vettrivel reportedly played a major role throughout Vijay’s political journey and was closely involved in important decisions during the election campaign. According to reports, Vijay had initially planned his swearing-in ceremony for May 10 at 3:45 pm, but the timing was later changed to 10 am following Vettrivel’s advice about an auspicious “muhurat.”

A well-known astrologer in Tamil Nadu politics, Vettrivel has been associated with several influential leaders over the years. Political observers claim that former Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa also consulted him before taking major political decisions. After shifting to Delhi in 2008, he expanded his client base across parties including the BJP, Congress, DMK and AIADMK.
Vettrivel had publicly predicted Vijay’s political success long before the Assembly elections and famously described the actor-politician as having a “tsunami-like strength” in politics. Following TVK’s victory, he was among the first people to personally congratulate Vijay.
TVK won 108 seats in the 234-member Assembly, falling short of the majority mark but securing support from parties including Congress and VCK. The backing enabled Vijay to stake claim and eventually form the government after repeated delays from the Governor.
