PANJIM: A bike rider lost his life when a truck collided with his two-wheeler near KTM showroom at Porvorim on Wednesday.
Police said the accident occurred at around 11am, where the rider Jeevan Colaco died on the spot, while pillion rider Mousinho Fernandes sustained injuries.
The injured was rushed to the hospital for treatment and is said to be out of danger.
The truck driver, hailing from Kolhapur, was on way to Mapusa from Porvorim. He was arrested by the local police for reckless driving and other relevant sections of Indian Penal Code.
Meanwhile, Porvorim police have arrested an Odisha native Gajendra Mangaraj (36) for alleged possession of drugs. Sources said the alleged drug trafficker was caught in possession of 966 grams ganja worth Rs 1.10 lakh while he was waiting for a customer.
