14 hurt in Borim mishap

Fourteen persons, including two motorcyclists and ice cream vendor, were injured when a passenger bus went off the road at Borim-Ponda on Thursday evening.
According to reports, on reaching Borim circle, bus (GA-01-W-4501) driver Sanjay Dande lost control over his vehicle and went off the road, before hitting ice cream vendor Paras Gujar and two motorcyclists Suresh and Danesh Pandit, both from Vasco. Later, the bus fell rammed into the roof of a house. All the three injured were rushed to GMC in Bambolim. Paras Gujar received injuries to his legs.
Besides, two passengers, Shweta Naik of Dhavli-Ponda and Sangeeta Vassudev Naik from Volvoi also received severe injuries and were rushed to GMC. The other nine passengers who had received minor injuries were discharged after administering first aid at ID Hospital in Ponda. Ponda Police arrested Sanjay Dande for rash and negligent driving. DySP Mahesh Gaonkar and PI Manjunath Dessai rushed to the site and took sock of the situation. Borim Sarpanch Sunil Sawkar and residents of Borim assisted Ponda police in the rescue act.
