Proposal submitted to Parrikar

PANJIM: A proposal for children with special needs regarding infrastructure like resource rooms, additional special instructor and schemes was handed over to the CM   Manohar Parrikar. The proposal was made based on the discussion with the CM about two months back. Children with Autism, Dementia and other special needs are not able to undergo normal education and as such the issue was deliberated at length by Rohan A Khaunte MLA of Porvorim Constituency. Parrikar had promised a joint meeting along with officials of other related government departments in August and the first phase to commence by September. The proposal was represented by Dr Marita Adam, Director of Spandan, Madhura Joshi, Director of Reach, Sandhya Kalokhe, Principal of Disha Special School, Dr Gaurish Laad, Dermatologist, Giselle Lobo, Associate Professor at Nirmala Institute along with Rohan A Khaunte. 
Ambelim gram sabha on July 21
PANJIM: All the members of VP Ambelim are hereby requested to attend the gram sabha on July 21 at 9.30 am at the Village Panchayat hall. The members are also requested to forward their suggestions, if any, in writing by July 17 at the panchayat office.
Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel
PANJIM: The Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel will be celebrated on July 16 at the Carmelite Monastery, Cine Vishant Road, Malbhat, Margao at 5 pm. The Feast Mass will be celebrated by Fr Francis Carvalho, the Superior General of St Francis Xavier Missionary Society, Pilar.
Guru Pournima celebration 
PANJIM: Gurupournima Mahotsav is being organised on July 2 by Sanatan Sanstha Ponda and other spiritual organizations at Ramnathi-Ponda, Panjim and Sanquelim. The function is going to be held in Marathi, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam. The functions will be held at 4.30 pm. 
Donation made to Sneha Mandir
PANJIM: Shree Manguesh Devasthan, Mangeshi donated Rs 1 lakh to Sneha Mandir,  Bandora, which provides a home for the aged at a function held at Bandora. Hiren S S Kerkar, President of Shree Manguesh Devasthan and B V S Priolkar, Secretary handed over the cheque to President of Sneha Mandir, Ramkrisna V Naik in the presence of Secretary Rajendra Talak and other dignitaries. 
Priolkar informed that the Shree Manguesh Devasthan is always in the forefront in social & welfare activities and will consider an enhanced amount in the future.
Population hampers progress: Lavoo 
PANJIM: The rapid growth in population on account of inflow of migrants who come to Goa seeking jobs has become the main hurdle for overall speedy progress of the State, stated Ponda MLA Lavoo Mamledar while speaking as the chief guest at ‘World Population Day’ function organized by Goa Chapter of Institute of Town Planners India at Goa International Centre on World Population Day.
He urged the ITPI to come up with suggestions to overcome the problem. The Chairman of ITPI Goa Rajesh Naik, Chief Town Planner S T Puttaraju, Senior Town Planner James Mathew, Joint Director Births and Deaths Vijai Saxena, Chairman Infrastructure cell of GCCI Rajan Bhatikar, Secretary ITPI-Goa Shaikh Ali were present. 
Presentations and lectures were delivered by Vijai Saxena, Rajan Bhatikar, S T Puttaraju and James Mathew. Ali proposed the vote of thanks.
