Ponda: Chairman of Sugarcane Farmers Facilitation Committee Narendra Sawaikar said that 161 cane farmers will receive their pending grants by May end. Sawaikar also informed that the process of the Ethanol project would be completed by June.

The meeting which was presided over by Sawaikar, was held on Friday at Sanjivani Sugar Factory’s hall and was attended by Chairman of Sugarcane Farmers Association Rajendra Desai, Sanjivani Administrator Satej Kamat, Director of Agriculture Nevil Alfonso, Francis Mascarenhas and other cane farmers.
“The government had announced to give grants to sugarcane farmers for five years after Sanjivani Sugar Factory was shut down and the amount was already deposited in the bank,” said Sawaikar.
