2.11 million tonnes of ore to be e-auctioned

PANJIM: A total of 2.11 million tonnes of iron ore will be up for e-auction on April 27.

Directorate of Mines and Geology (DMG) has identified 129 lots at Vagus jetty, Sirigao mine, Codli mine, Suctolim mine, Kotambi jetty, Surla jetty and Khazan jetty for e-auction. 
Of the 15 million tonnes of ore identified for e-auction, 7.76 million tonnes are still stacked awaiting auction.
In the last two years, Directorate of Mines and Geology has managed to e-auction only 7.24 million tonnes of ore, of which 7 million tonnes have been moved out of the site. Nearly 46 lakh tonnes of ore have been exported.  
For Wednesday’s e-auction, Directorate of Mines and Geology has slashed the minimum earnest money deposit (EMD). 
The minimum earnest money deposit is now Rs 1 lakh for bidding up to 5000 metric tonnes from the earlier Rs 25 lakh for bidding up to 1,000 metric tonnes of ore.
