MARGAO: Four persons including former Zilla Panchayat member on Monday with common intention barged inside into a bar and restaurant at Birla and assaulted one Chandrashekar Bhingi with a beer glass on his head, causing injuries and fled away.

Verna police said that they threatened to kill Chandrashekar with dire consequences and abused him in filthy language. Besides, another person Prince Kumar, who intervened, was also assaulted with a beer glass on his face causing injuries.
He is undergoing medical treatment at SMRC Hospital, Vasco.
“The two injured were referred for medical treatment and their statements will be recorded,” police said.
When contacted Verna Police Station Police Inspector Prashal Dessai said that based on a complaint lodged by Chandrashekar, an offence under Section 506(ii) 324, 325 read with 34 IPC have been registered.
Police said that the motive of crime is over previous enmity for supporting different political party leaders. ASI Santosh Gaonker is investigating the case.
