VALPOI: North Goa Deputy Collector on Wednesday demolished two illegal houses of Dhangar Samaj allegedly built in Water Resources Department property by Thaki Dhaku Varak and Shakuntala Zore at Saleli.
Valpoi Mamlatdar Rajesh Ajgaonkar, G F Pawadi, Assistant Engineer of WRD, Valpoi policemen and other government officials were present during the demolition.
“We have been residing here since past two decades. We have built our own house, while through a bank loan. We have planted cashew, mango, coconut and banana in our property. Now where will we go? We have been left with no option but to commit suicide,” said Thaki Dhaku Varak, a senior citizen with tears in her eyes.
“I am residing here in this property, with my two children last 15 years. My two children are going to school. And I am working as a labourer. Now, the government has demolished my house and have no place to go? I will commit suicide along with my children, said Shakuntala Zore, the owner of second house which was demolished on Wednesday.
Slamming the government, B D Mote, President of Sattari Taluka Dhangar Samaj alleged that
the state government has been doing injustice to Dhangar Samaj for past many years.
“We have seen that, in past five years the government has demolished many houses of those belonging to the Dhangar Samaj. Enough is enough. Now, we will come on the streets against the Government, Mote warned.
