PANJIM: Speaker Pramod Sawant on Wednesday said that Goa Legislature Secretariat will, for the first time, organise the State Youth Parliament on Friday at the Gomantak Maratha Samaj Hall, Panjim.
Addressing the media, Sawant said, “Till now we have been only taking student parliament programmes and the mock parliament competition in which all colleges participate but this is the first time the State Youth Parliament will be held. This programme has been organised with the aim to increase political and social leadership among people.”
The inauguration on Friday will be at 9.30 am in the presence of the Speaker, Legislative Affairs Minister Francis D’Souza and Leader of the Opposition Chandrakant Kavlekar. Later at 10.45 am there will be a panel discussion of youth participation in socio politics by MLA Prasad Goankar.
Sawant said that from 12 to 1.30 pm there will be interaction with Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on the vision for youth.
The programme will also include a panel discussion on countering youth suicides along with performance by winners of student’s parliament competition followed by closing ceremony in the presence of Tourism Minister Manohar Azgoankar.
