MARGAO: Two youth suspected to have consumed overdose of drugs were found dead at a private birthday party in Maina-Curtorim on Sunday morning.
Parag Raikar, aged 26 years, resident of Comba, Margao and Rodston Monteiro, aged 21 years, who were at the 27th birthday party of Alston DeMello, a resident of Maina-Curtorim, on Saturday night, are suspected to have died due to drugs overdose.
The police, at the resident of Alston, have found cigarette butts, paper used for smoking and consumption of narcotic drugs, alcohol bottles and other suspicious matter pointing out to drug use at the party.
Deputy Superintendent of Police, South Goa, Mohan Naik said the police is investigating the angle of deaths due to alcohol and narcotic drugs overdose.
According to information available, Alston DeMello, had organised a party on Saturday to celebrate his 27th birthday. Alston had around 35 invitees amongst who most were males and around 4-5 females. The deceased Parag and Rodston were also at the party and were up till at about 2.30 am of Sunday. After they wound up the party, some 10 members amongst whom were Parag and Rodston, had stayed back and later fell asleep. The group realised in the morning that Parag and Rodston were not conscious. That is when they raised an alarm.
The DySP along with Maina-Curtorim police station incharge, Harish Madkaikar rushed to the spot and conducted the site inspection. The police have found several clues to determine the cause of the deaths. However, they are waiting for the post-mortem report to determine the exact cause of deaths.
