A 28-year-old man, Sunny Narvekar of NanodaBicholim, died on Thursday evening after his two-wheeler skidded on a mud-covered stretch of the highway at Socorro, near Porvorim. Eyewitnesses and police said Narvekar lost control of the vehicle, fell onto the road, and was fatally struck by a heavy vehicle approaching from behind. Shubham Maulingkar, riding pillion, sustained injuries and was admitted to a nearby hospital. His condition is reported to be stable.
