Three booked for abduction, assault in Ponda

Police have registered an offence against three men for allegedly abducting and brutally assaulting a resident of Ponda. Complainant Ganesh Tudu, originally from West Bengal and residing at Tisk, Ponda, told police he was forced into a bus on September 5, around 8 pm, at the Old Bus Stand, Ponda. The accused — Amay Naik of Madkai, Pritesh Kamat of Dabolim-Shiroda, and Devendra Shelapkar alias Dilu of Marcel — allegedly took him near the Ponda Fire Station, where they assaulted him with kicks, fist blows, and slaps, including on his private parts, causing serious injuries. Tudu further alleged that accused Amay Naik threatened to kill him. The case has been registered, and investigations are being carried out by PSI Chetan Naik of Ponda Police Station.
