MAPUSA: The Mapusa police have arrested three persons from Maharashtra in connection with mobile thefts at Mapusa market on the basis of suspicion during beat patrol and seized from their possession property worth Rs 2.5 lakh on Friday evening.
The police seized from their possession 41 different types of mobile hand sets of Samsung, Oppo, Nokia and Redmi, 62 chargers and cash of around Rs 4,253.
All the three accused persons are in their mid-thirties namely Vijay Beldar, Suresh Beldar and Prakash Beldar.
They are currently in police custody after being arrested under Section 41 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC). All the three are natives of Maharahtra and were currently residing at Karaswada in Mapusa where all the mobiles and charges were found after interrogation.
On suspicion, police checked the trio and found them in possession of two mobiles. On interrogation the accused reportedly revealed their involvement in theft of other mobiles as well.
Police are currently investigating to find out whether more people involved in the crime. Further investigation is in progress with under the supervision of PI Kapil Nayak.
