3rd charge sheet filed against Mahanand

Ponda police on Thursday filed a third charge sheet against the alleged serial killer Mahanand Naik, in connection with the murder of Darshana Naik of Tarvale-Shiroda.
It may be recalled that Mahanand had allegedly murdered Darshana at Bambolim in September 1994 and Agassaim police had registered the case as unnatural death.
Police has registered the statements of about 50 witnesses in the 350-page charge sheet. Ulhas Rivonkar, a goldsmith, of Ponda is also charge sheeted in the case. PSI Dipak Pednekar is investigating the case.
Mahanand was earlier charge sheeted in a rape case and murder case of Yogita Naik of Nazgar-Ponda.
It may be recalled that Mahanand, who was arrested by Ponda police on charges of raping a 22-year-old woman from Shiroda for two years, later admitted to the murder of 16 women over a period of 15 years.
