PONDA: The Mines Department and Ponda Police teams on Monday conducted a raid on an alleged illegal laterite stone quarry at Bethora and seized four power tillers and a loaded truck.

According to Mines Department, the illegal activities were progressing at Bethora, Nirankal–Conshem Codar Panchayat at Gawalwada. After receiving information, the spot was raided and offences against unknown persons were registered. Despite court directives the quarry has been operating illegally. Some workers fled during the raid.
