PANJIM: Around 45 tourists on board a passenger cruise boat had a lucky escape when it drifted onto an offshore casino vessel on Saturday evening.
The incident occured close to the Panjim jetty at around 6.30pm when the cruise passengers, most of whom were domestic tourists, were on the way back from the trip.
“The boat drifted onto Deltin Jaqk close to the Panjim port. Fortunately, no passengers were hurt and they reached the shore safe,” Captain of Ports James Braganza told Herald, stating underwater currents resulted in the accident.
However, according to some the collision was due to the failure of the boat engine. The marine police had rushed to the spot in a bid to rescue the passengers.
