7 vie for Mandrem Cong ticket

PERNEM: The Mandrem Block Congress Committee has shortlisted seven persons who are in the running for the Congress ticket to the Assembly elections from the constituency.

PERNEM: The Mandrem Block Congress Committee has shortlisted seven persons who are in the running for the Congress ticket to the Assembly elections from the constituency.
A meeting was held at Morjim on Friday, in the presence of Congress office bearers Dr Pramod Salgaonkar, Mario Pinto, block President Narayan Redkar and Secretary Amit Sawant.
From the Mandrem Block Congress Committee, seven probable candidates have staked their claim for nomination for the upcoming 2016 elections from which one member will be nominated. 
The seven shortlisted names are GPCC Vice President Babi Bagkar, former union minister Ramakant Khalap, former MLA Jitendra Deshprabhu, former MLA Dayanand Sopte, former education Minister Sangita Parab, Sachin Parab and Vishnudas Parab.
“From the seven applications only one will be selected as leader and declared in September and the nominated member will get full support from all members & activists to win the coming election,” said Congress constituency in-charge Dr Salgaonkar. 
She said the objective of the party is to compete with Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar and win. 
Salgaonkar said, “There is bright future for Congress Party in Mandrem Constituency. Many deserving members have filed application for nomination. However, only loyal member with good relation with people will be nominated as candidate.”
