PANJIM: As many as 700 candidates holding graduate, post graduate, professional degrees and other higher qualifications have applied for 11 posts of junior scale officers of Goa civil service with Goa Public Service Commission (GPSC), which expects more applications till the deadline on Thursday.
The commission, headed by Chairman Jose Manuel Noronha, for the first time has introduced online filing of the forms, online tests and negative marking.
The computer based recruitment test (CBRT) that would decide eligibility of a candidate to appear for the competitive written exams is also introduced for the very first time in the history of State civil exams.
“We have received over 700 applications so far,” the chairman told Herald. The qualifying round, tentatively scheduled in January-end, will ensure results within one hour of giving the exam. “The duration to complete CBRT of 90 marks is 90 minutes. For every correct answer, a candidate scores one mark whereas half mark is deducted for wrong answer. For questions not attempted, the candidate does not score any mark,” Noronha, the brain behind the new system said. The online written test will carry 250 marks followed by 40 marks interviews of the pass outs.
With syllabus for the CBRT and written test already uploaded on the official website, one needs to score at least 65 percent in the general category while the passing cut off percentage for OBC and ST is 60 percent and 55 percent respectively.
