PANJIM: AAP Goa convener Rahul Mhambre on Sunday criticised the alleged spree of land conversions undertaken by the government.
Rahul said, “During this ongoing COVID-19 pandemic where we have lost more than 500 beloved Goans and series of scams unearthed, the BJP government in the State is busy conducting surveys to convert land in Goa and not how to better the situation.”
AAP has alleged that public notice published in the leading dailies is hideous in nature. It does not mention the name and other important details of the land owners.
“The TCP Department published a notification in all the leading dailies for 16 B Zone conversion list without the owners’ names and the area measurement of the area to be converted. Hope the panchayats are taking note of what is happening in their villages”, Mhambre said.
“The government is hiding something. The land conversion spree undertaken by it in the middle of a pandemic is indeed questionable as more than 1000 applications for land conversion requests have been approved by the TCP minister in last one year. What was the hurry? It definitely calls for an investigation,” said Mhambre.
“During the lockdown the Central government gave the EC for cutting of thousands of trees through Mollem Wildlife Sanctuary for coal and double tracking projects which are not in the interest of Goa and Goans while the Sawant-led government remained a mute spectator,” he added.
