VALPOI: Sattari residents on Sunday threatened to launch a massive morcha on the Goa Assembly complex during the next session if the government failed to provide them with the ownership of Alvara, Kumeri and the encroachment land in Class ‘A’ category.

Sattari residents along with some prominent persons held a meeting on land ownership rights in the Sateri Temple premises, Velus. Nearly 300 locals had attended the meeting.
“Why is the government delaying in giving us the Alvara land ownership despite submitting the files nearly two years ago? Almost 4000 Alvara land ownership files are pending in the Collector’s Office” they claimed.
“Now, we will hold village-wise meetings on land ownership rights of Alvara, Kumeri and the encroachment land. We will explain to the locals the importance of their rights to ensure that they participate in the protest in large number,” said Advocate Ganpat Gaonkar
“We will demand the land ownership rights in Class ‘A’ category. We will soon start our protest from Panjim which will be a peaceful one,” said Rajesh Gaonkar, panch.
“During the first land survey held in Goa in 1972 the then Government did not take the people into confidence. We will launch a massive morcha on the Goa Assembly complex during the next session,” warned Dashrath Mandrekar, a local.
