AAP officials said they requested the police to investigate the matter as soon as possible saying they needed to act swiftly as in the case of New Delhi’s Jitender Singh Tomar.
AAP had earlier this week released documents pointing to a false degree being circulated by the minister. Dhavalikar had in a sworn affidavit listed 1980 as the year of passing the BSc (Subsidary) examination while a document released by him showed that he had received the degree in 1978.
Documents released by the party reveal that Dhavalikar’s name was not listed on the Chowgule College’s list of students who passed out in the years 1978, 1979 and 1980.
Copies of marksheets from the University of Bombay from the BSc examinations in April 1979 and October 1979 on the other hand do list Dhavalikar’s name as having answered the exam but in both cases had resulted in grade F, or fail.
AAP also questioned how Dhavalikar, if he had completed his SSC in 1975, could complete his four-year BSc course only three years after that.
The party stated that Dhavalikar no longer had a right to be a minister and demanded his arrest, citing the case of Delhi’s law Minister Jeentendra Tomar, who was arrested for forging his educational degree.
When asked whether AAP and BJP united to target Davlikar, they refuted it and added that they would expose erring legislators from all parties very soon.
Meanwhile, Priol BJP chief Satish Marcaikar and former MLA Vishwas Satarkar stated that the fake degree issue was maligning the government’s image and asked the PWD minister to reveal the truth so that the government could regain the people’s trust. They added that they would demand Dhavalikar’s resignation if found guilty.
When contacted, PWD Minister Sudin Dhavalikar said that if AAP had filed a complaint, the police should investigate the matter. As for him, he had already cleared the air through the media. Regarding the Priol BJP’s allegations of maligning the government’s image, he stated that he would not bother to comment on such allegations which anybody could make.
