Aam Aadmi Party MLA Venzy Viegas has submitted five private member bills for consideration during the upcoming March 2026 session of the Goa Legislative Assembly.
The proposed bills focus on key sectors including the protection of agricultural land, regulation of gambling activities, irrigation reforms, restrictions on the transfer of farmland, and the creation of a Goa Maritime Board.
According to sources, the legislation aimed at protecting agricultural land seeks to strengthen safeguards against the conversion of farmland for non-agricultural purposes. Another bill proposes tighter regulations on gambling operations in the state.
The irrigation reform proposal is intended to improve water management for farmers, while the bill on farmland transfers aims to introduce stricter conditions on the sale or transfer of agricultural land.
In addition, Viegas has proposed the establishment of a Goa Maritime Board to oversee and regulate maritime activities in the coastal state.
The bills are expected to be discussed during the upcoming assembly session, where they may be taken up for debate and consideration.
