AAP: Recent amendment bills an attack on Goan identity

PANJIM: Aam Admi Party (AAP) Goa has called the series of amendments in certain Acts an attack on Goan identity.

Terming the amendments as against Goa and Goans, AAP said it is an unconstitutional subversion of laws by the government to facilitate land grabbing and promote unsustainable concretization in the name of development.
APP has demanded an amendment to the Investment Promotion Act to delete the illegal powers given to the Investment Promotion Board. “In the guise of single window clearance to help boost the economy and create jobs, BJP should stop fooling the people and making a mockery of the laws of the land,” stated convenor Valmiki Naik.
APP also demanded that the notified Regional Plan 2021 be kept in abeyance while maintaining the sanctity of eco-sensitive zones. The party said the government should immediately restart the process of village level participation by sending the draft Regional Plan 2021 back to the village committees and for that the TCP Act should be amended.
“The government must immediately amend the TCP Act to give public participation process a legal mandate so that the entire exercise does not end up being mere eyewash to fool the people,” Naik said.
APP also demanded that ODPs, IPB notified areas and others should come within the Regional Plan and there should be one plan for the State.
The BJP government was criticised for the anti-people bills passed in the recently concluded State Legislative Assembly.
