AAP releases names of four more candidates

Nominates volunteers in Margao, Curtorim, Dabolim and Valpoi

PANJIM: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) announced four more candidates on Tuesday in Margao, Curtorim, Dabolim and Valpoi constituencies. With this announcement AAP has named candidates in 36 constituencies and has become the only party in the State to declare these many candidates prior to the poll dates being announced.  
AAP said that the Margao seat will be contested by 62-year-old former MMC councilor Santosh Pai Raiturkar. Raiturkar is a former general secretary of Congress in Goa and had joined AAP as a volunteer in August this year. 
Edwin Domnic Vaz a 28-year-old computer engineer will contest from Curtorim, whereas in Dabolim the party candidate will be Vasant Sahadev Naik.
Naik, 47, is a leader of the traditional fishermen (ramponkars) and a protégé of the late Matanhy Saldanha. He is as a serving panch of Bogmalo-Chicolna Panchayat and has served two earlier terms, he was also a Sarpanch from 2000 to 2004. He is also vice-president of the Gomantak Bahujan Bhandari Samaj since 2012 and has served as vice-president of Goencho Raponkarancho Ekvott since 2012 and was recently re-elected to the post.
AAP also declared Ashish Kanekar a civil engineer as their candidate in Valpoi. He has served as a councillor of Valpoi Municipal Council in the past.
