PANJIM: The AAP ‘zhaadu yatra’ that took off from Mandrem on Tuesday reached Panjim on Wednesday.
AAP Chief Ministerial candidate Elvis Gomes, Panjim candidate Valmiki Naik along with supporters and workers went around the constituency in the rally in a motorcade. The yatra is expected to travel through all 40 constituencies.
Gomes said the rally is to expose the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party and opposition Congress’s ill doings and to create awareness about issues related to corruption in both parties.
Meanwhile, AAP has written to the Election Commission of India demanding a change in the election symbol of the United Goans Party which is contesting two Assembly seats. AAP said that the UG ‘torch’ symbol matches their ‘broom’ symbol.
“It was scrapped in the last Lok Sabha election by Election Commission based on our complaint but I don’t know how the same has been allowed now,” AAP National leader Dinesh Waghela said.
He said voters would be confused by the symbols at the time of voting and hence the complaint to the Election Commission.
