MARGAO: Jai Damodar Association has called for a public meeting at the Lohia Maidan, Margao on January 18 at 5 pm.
Association president Mahesh T Nayak told newsmen that the meeting will discuss the rise in rape cases in Goa, besides robberies, murders et al.
Nayak slammed the government for the failure of the police in tackling public issues and shoddy investigations into serious cases.
Meanwhile, amidst demands from various groups to beef up security at schools, the Directorate of Women & Child Development has sent a proposal to the government on security measures at each school across the state.
Director Sunil Masurkar said they have proposed that education department instructs school managements for reviewing security measures in their respective schools, and that Goa police should intensify patrolling in every campus and book those involved in anti social activities under relevant sections of the law.
The proposal is presently under the consideration of the government.
