MARGAO: Local activists were left baffled over the information provided by the Directorate of Education on details concerning Education Director, Anil V Powar.
Activist Laurel Abranches told the media that he had sought information on the academic and other details of the Education Director, but what he has received in return is just one answer to the 15 questions seeking details.
“The Education department only provided information relating to Powar’s promotions in the department. The information was silent on his birth certificate, academic and technical qualifications, experience certificates and employment card, residence certificate at the time of recruitment, selection letter, knowledge of Konkani, assets declared at the time of joining, current assets etc.,” Abranches said, while demanding to know why the Education Department has failed to dish out the information as sought under the RTI.
Another activist Melvyn Fernandes said he has asked certain information from the Education Department on the Madonna Primary School, but lamented that he has received only vague answers from the department.
“When I asked for information whether the school has been shifted to other premises or whether any safety test done on the school building by competent authorities to check its stability in view of the letter by the Mamlatdar to shift the children to any other premises till the safety of the structure is established, I got a reply ‘not known from the department,’” he rued.
