Adpoi, Ponda Hosts Unique Ganesh Idol Immersion Celebrating ‘Nari Shakti’

Thousands par-ticipated in the unique Ga-nesh idol immersion pro-cession at Adpoi, Ponda, marking the culmination of the five-day Chaturthi cele-brations on Sunday.

The main highlight of this year’s procession was a float dedicated to “Nari Shakti” (women power), honouring the contribu-tion of women to “Opera-tion Sindoor”.

Locals said that this float aimed at encouraging local women for nation-build-ing, which drew the atten-tion from devotees.

The celebrations in Ad-poi are known for their unique and traditional joint immersion of Ganesh idols. Around 17 families from the village, residing across the State, unite an-nually for this special tradi-tion. On the fifth day, these families prepare an equal number of floats, each de picting mythological figures and carrying their respective family’s Ganesh idol during the procession.

Morya” and “Jay Vittal, Jay Vittal”, and singing bhajans. After worshipping at the common Datta mandap, the idols were immersed in the Zuari River.

Devotees expressed con-cerns regarding parking facilities as they complained that they were compelled to park their vehicles about a kilometre away at Durbhat Jetty due to the lack of adequate provisions.
