After a long hiatus patrol boat purchased for Goa Coastal Police

After a hiatus of nearly five years, Goa Police finally purchased a patrol boat for Coastal Police. Though the boat was ready about two months ago, it was commissioned on Thursday 13 April 2023, ahead of the G20 Summit. O Heraldo has exposed how the 7 coastal police stations were functioning without patrol boats. Most of the seven patrol boats of coastal police stations went out of use in 2018, while some were decommissioned in 2019, leaving the Goa coast vulnerable to attack.

Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on inaugurating the patrol boat and a drone for the Goa Police said it would enhance security and the drone would be used for security and to monitor traffic. It is learnt that the Rs 5.5 crore patrol vessel Chandreshwar would be used by the Harbour police since a large area comes under their jurisdiction.
