Advocate General (AG) Subodh Kantak will give his opinion on the report compiled by Srivastava committee on High Security Registration Plates (HSRPs) issue within next two days.
“I have gone through the entire report… I will give my opinion in next two days… I don’t want to reveal anything…let the state government come out publicly.” Kantak told Herald.
He said that the final decision will be made by the cabinet. “I will give the opinion but the decision whether to go ahead with the scheme or not is upto the government,” AG added.
Once the AG gives his final comment over the matter, the file would be then moved to the cabinet for its final decision.
After the Srivastav committee presented its final report on the controversial HSRP at the floor of the house in March, the state government had forwarded the file to AG for legal opinion and also to look into the modalities of termination of the contract with Shimnit Utsch, who have been awarded the contract of installing HSRP in the state.
The committee had pointed out several irregularities in the HSRP contract and had said that the tender process has been vitiated by the government.

Meanwhile, as the HSRP contract signed by the government with Shimnit Utsch still stands, public are been offered with the same number plates for their new vehicles till further decision comes on the matter.
