Vasco: Dabolim Airport Director Gagan Malik emphasised on the need for extending the Airport terminal. “Domestic tourists have been flocking and will continue to come to Goa in large numbers. We are in need of the extension of the terminal, that extension is being done for a very small portion which is 86 metres. We are going to extend just for the reason to make some internal changes in the terminal setup,” he said, while adding that Air India’s flight continues to operate in an air bubble.
“We want our domestic security hold to shift to a larger area and international to be brought to a smaller area so that we could take better care of our guests in a better manner. Currently I a have 64 checks in counters and will come up with more 32 counters to expedite check in and security checks,” he said.

On the screening process and latest SOP, Malik only arriving passengers are being screened at the Goa airport.
“Those who are having temperature beyond range are being dealt separately. We are not going back to square one; we are improving and opening up,” he added.
On an average every day Goa Airport receives more than 11,000 passengers’ on arrival and departure. On weekends the number goes above 13,000. At airport 45 to 49 flights are operating except Tuesday.
“We have been open and we have received a request for 9 more flights which we have approved,” he added.
When asked whether the Indian Tourists increased as compared to last year, he replied saying, “Gradually we are reaching that level and my assessment is that we may surpass it by the mid-December,” he added.
